William and Mommy made a special Halloween cake on Thursday night. It is a chocolate cake with snicker bar filling, and chocolate icing. The decorations are spiders and bugs made of various kinds of candy. William was so proud of his cake. Since he couldn't eat that cake, until Saturday, I let him decorate the extra cake pieces that I had to trim off. He did it all on his own. And got to eat it too. He did decide to share a small piece to a neighbor. :) I hope she enjoyed it as much as he did. The first two pictures are of the cake we decorated together. The last one is Williams special cake.
Happy Halloween!!!

E.R. Excitement!
About 5:30 last night William was getting into a chair at our kitchen table and missed. This one simple event had a whole night of excitement to follow. William had hit the back of his head on a windowseat behind our table, and the screaming and the blood followed. Although, not nearly as much blood as screaming. A friend took Cade for a little while and we took William to a Minor Emergency Center that is not far from our house. The nurse took one look and said, "He definatly needs soochers, but you should take him to Driscoll Urgent Care, they are much better suited to handle kids..." . So out the door we went and rushed across town. We get there wait for a short time for the Dr. and here is what he said"...I think we should let it heal on it's own. There will be a scar, however it is not worth the trama of stiches." What a relief! William, of course after the initial crying, was a very big boy on the ride and for the Dr's.

Will the Tool Man Caldwell
I know this is a lot of posts for one day but I wanted to catch up with all the fun things I have caught on camera. My Parents came to visit this weekend. We had a good time, but this was one of the funniest projects of the weekend. Grandad brought William a kid sized tool set. complete with suspenders, tool belt, goggles, hard hat, and miniature yet real tools. :) I thought this was too cute. Here are William and Grandad working on a growth chart. I'll try to get a picture of it up in the next couple of days. Enjoy!
Observation.
William has proven time and time again that he intensely observes and studies his surroundings. So here is a perfect example. We have a volunteer fire department at the end of our neighborhood, that we drive by several times a week. As most of you know emergency vehicles back in to their garages and parking spots so they can get out faster. William is also obsessive about parking his cars. I am constantly finding groupings around the house of cars lined up and placed just so. This is what I found watching William play the other day.
Notice all the emergency vehicles are turned around backwards. I asked him why and he just looked at me, and bluntly said.... "because fire engines back in Mommy." All I could do was laugh.
New Independence
Cade is now a table food eater. He is still getting some baby food, but is doing well at "gumming" all that steak, potatoes, and especially green beans! I'm sure that will disappear in about a year. It did with his big brother:). Lunch today was the first meal that he has eaten enough food all by himself that he didn't need any additional baby food. He is so fun to watch eat.
A funny fact: When Cade is eating with his right hand he grasps his food with his thumb and forefinger. When he is using his left hand he grasps with his fist and puts food in his mouth with his two middle fingers, the one's he sucks. :) It is too funny.
